Introduction
As of 2022, Facebook roughly has 2.96 billion monthly active users, making it the most-used online social network worldwide. This makes it one of the most lucrative platforms for businesses to market themselves. You can run campaigns, build up brand awareness, and sell products with Facebook. And it all starts with creating a Facebook ad account.
Prerequisites
- A Facebook page for your business.
- A personal Facebook account (with admin access to your business page)
- Your preferred payment method is in place.
Before getting started with an ad account, we need to first set up a Facebook Business Manager account.
Facebook Business Manager is a website where you can manage for free all your Facebook ad accounts, Instagram accounts, business pages as well as Meta Pixel. With Facebook Business Manager, it's now easier than ever to keep the business and personal separate on Facebook.
Now, let's get into the processes for creating an ad account, starting with creating a Facebook Business Manager account.
Creating a Facebook Business Manager Account
- Head over to business.facebook.com and click on Create Account.
- In the pop-up form, enter your business name, your name, and your business email.
- Once you have done filling up the form, you will need to go to your email inbox and confirm your mail address.
- And that's it! your business manager account is all set.
Now, the next step is to add your business pages to your Facebook Business Manager account in order to run campaigns.
Adding Business Page to Facebook Business Manager Account
- Head over to the Business Manager.
- Click on the gear icon (Settings) in the left menu bar.
- Under “Accounts”, select “Pages”.
- Paste the link of the page you want to add (and you have admin access to).
- Click on "Add".
There! your business page is now added to your Facebook Business Manager.
Creating and setting up an ad account on the Facebook Business Manager
- Head over to the Business Manager.
- Click on the gear icon (Settings) in the left menu bar.
- Under “Accounts”, select “Ad accounts”.
- Click on the blue dropdown button labeled "Add".
- Click on "Create a New Ad Account".
- You'll be presented with a form, where you will need to put up the ad account name, time zone, currency, and payment method. (Time zone and currency once set, you cannot change it for the ad account in the future- so be careful)
That's it! Your ad account is now set.
But before you can run any kind of campaign, you will need to have your payment method set. To do that:
- Head over to your Facebook Ad Account Settings.
- Click “Payment Settings”.
- Here you will see “Add Payment Method”. You can also find "Edit Payment Method" and other options here.
- Now select your preferred method and fill out the necessary information.
- Click on "Next", and you're done!
Once your ad account and payment method are set, you have all you need to start running campaigns. Just head over to your business manager and click on the dotted square on the top left. You'll see the Ads manager button. With it, you can run and manage your campaigns on Facebook.
